Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an Identity Management Specialist within the Identity and Access Management Support (IAMS) unit of SIS in the Division of Information Technology. The role focuses on authenticating and authorizing university users, provisioning accounts, and supporting password resets while protecting data.

The successful candidate will collaborate with IT teams, apply policies, and help improve IAMS business processes and tools. Overtime is non-exempt; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Experience with identity management concepts and processes including authorization, authentication, and segregation of duties.
• Knowledge of access control systems with respect to Oracle Databases, Active Directory, Exchange, LDAP, etc.
• Experience using an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow.
• Discretion handling confidential or personal data.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate identity and access management needs for university community.
• Verify and authorize end-user access and provisioning of entitlements.
• Support password resets and troubleshoot access issues.
• Contribute to business processes and administrative tools for IAMS.
