Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an Identity Management Specialist to support identity and access management for university users, ensuring proper authentication and authorization for end-users and services. This role involves password resets, troubleshooting access issues, and provisioning/deprovisioning of accounts in accordance with university policies.

The successful candidate will work with Oracle Databases, Active Directory, LDAP, and ITSM tooling like ServiceNow, while upholding confidentiality

Qualifications

• Experience with identity management concepts and processes including authorization, authentication, segregation of duties.
• Knowledge of access control systems with respect to Oracle Databases, Active Directory, Exchange, LDAP, etc.
• Experience using an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow.
• Discretion handling confidential or personal data.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide identity and access management support to university community.
• Assist in provisioning and deprovisioning of user accounts and entitlements.
• Validate and verify authorization requests and support approval flows.
• Troubleshoot password resets and access issues.
• Contribute to IAM business processes and administrative tools.
