Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an Identity Management Specialist to support authentication, authorization, and access provisioning for campus users and services. You will work within the Identity and Access Management Support (IAMS) unit of SIS to ensure policy-based access to university resources and to resolve user access issues.

The role emphasizes security, confidentiality, customer service, and collaboration with IT teams across campus.

Qualifications

• Experience with Identity Management concepts and processes including authorization, authentication, segregation of duties, etc.
• Knowledge of access control systems with respect to Oracle Databases, Active Directory, Exchange, LDAP, etc.
• Experience using an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow
• Demonstrated discretion while handling confidential or personal data
• Excellent customer service skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with password resets and user access issue troubleshooting.
• Validate and verify authorization requests and facilitate approval flows.
• Provision and deprovision user accounts and entitlements per policy.
• Support IAMS business processes and administrative tools.
• Contribute to improving identity and access management procedures.
