The SBN Operations team is looking for an Infrastructure Ops Technician to join our expanding Central Infra Ops team. Infrastructure Ops Technicians work with established best practices to refine operational procedures and develop new tooling to support our networks. If you would like supporting and deploying large scale, enterprise class networks, we’d like to meet you. Your work will deliver the configuration and overall health of our infrastructure services for Amazonians and to assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our infrastructure operations as we expand.

Key job responsibilities

The position’s responsibilities involve installation, configuring, monitoring and resolving of issues with infrastructure hardware, configuration and network connectivity in Amazon corporate offices around the world. These activities include the following:

  1. Installation and troubleshooting of infrastructure hardware, software and connectivity
  2. Ability to travel within geographical work area is required
  3. Ability to work in a 24/7 environment
  4. Communicate with technical and non-technical staff
  5. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  6. Display a commitment to quality and strong multi-tasking skills
  7. Work closely with both internal customers and external vendors to maintain infrastructure health

Our Data Center Technician professionals, who have industry-leading technical abilities and demonstrate a breadth of knowledge while they:

  1. Installation and troubleshooting of infrastructure hardware, software and connectivity
  2. Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context
  3. Maintain service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting
  4. Are biased to act in the absence of direction or support
  5. Improve effectiveness through process innovation
About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Technical Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; or Certifications in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, CCNA)
  2. 2+ years of experience in data center or critical environment
  3. 2+ years of experience with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment (VFL, power meter, and OTDR etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  2. Knowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, etc)
  3. Experience with ethernet and IP networking
  4. Experience in large scale data center network implementations and support
  5. Experience working with IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE)
