Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation is hiring a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist to deliver high-quality service to customers and help Iowans obtain required identification documents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; three years of full-time clerical or closely-related work.
• Total of three years of education/experience; 30 semester hours equals one year of experience.
• Current continuous state executive branch experience includes six months as a Driver & Identification Service Center Associate.

Responsibilities

• Act as point of contact for customer questions via phone, conducting driving tests, or issuing licenses and IDs.
• Provide expert knowledge of license eligibility and identification requirements based on REAL ID standards and license/ID issuance.
• Administer and score motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL pre-trip, skills, and road driving examinations.
• Review State and Federal records to determine issuance eligibility.
• Support teammates through knowledge sharing, training, mentoring, etc.
