Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist to help Iowa customers obtain licenses and IDs, in a fast-paced environment, aligning with our mission and core values.

The role involves conducting driving tests, verifying eligibility, and administering exams, with duties including knowledge sharing and support for teammates. Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent).
• Total of three years of education and/or full-time experience as described above, with thirty semester hours equaling one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Acting as a point of contact for customer questions by answering phones, conducting driving tests, or issuing licenses and IDs.
• Providing expert knowledge of driver’s license eligibility and identification requirements based on REAL ID standards.
• Administering and scoring motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL examinations.
• Reviewing state and federal records to determine eligibility for issuance.
• Supporting teammates through knowledge sharing and training.
