Job summary

AHRC Nassau in New York seeks compassionate Direct Care Staff to support residents in an Intermediate Care Facility. You will assist with daily living, personal hygiene, and health-related tasks within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include implementing individualized programs, supporting nutrition and safety, and attending progress meetings. NYS driver’s license and some care experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Qualified NYS driver’s license required and must meet agency requirements.
• Six (6) months experience with DDI population preferred; ability to understand directives.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal hygiene, feeding, and showering to maintain independence.
• Implements resident-specific programs to support goals and daily living.
• Assists with prescribed diets and portion control for weight maintenance.
• Administers medications if AMAP certified and per doctors' orders.
• Maintains resident safety through supervision and adaptive equipment.
• Provides ongoing supervision and participates in interdisciplinary meetings.
• Implements recreational activities and assists with arts, games, and sports.
• Purchases clothing and personal items to meet daily living needs.
• Trains new employees when applicable and performs duties as assigned by supervisor.
