University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Veterinary Teaching Hospital seeks a Veterinary Technician to provide paramedical technical support and nursing care in the Intermediate Care Ward, ICU, and Small Animal Isolation Ward. The role includes supervising and instructing veterinary students during diagnostic and emergency procedures.

The position emphasizes teamwork with students, interns, residents and faculty, handling patient care, monitoring patients, and maintaining clinical equipment

Qualifications

• Successful completion or current enrollment in the final semester of a AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program.
• Illinois Veterinary Technician Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide standard paramedical technical support and nursing care in the IC wards and isolation ward.
• Supervise and instruct veterinary students and technician students in procedures and emergencies.
• Operate and monitor clinical equipment and collect samples for lab analysis.
• Record treatments, patient data and charges in the EMR with accuracy.
• Assist veterinarians with procedures and maintain sterile technique.
