ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 (Illinois nursing jobs)
• Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center with Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU units
• Position Type: Travel RN Contract
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Floating: Required between ICU units and to Med/Surg units within a 50-mile radius
• EMR: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue (not provided)
• Parking: $2/day with shuttle service
  
  

ICU RN Qualifications

• Current and active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Ability to float between ICU specialties and Med/Surg units as needed
• Strong clinical communication and adaptability skills
  
  

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients in various ICU specialties
• Monitor and manage ventilated patients, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias
• Perform arterial and central line care, continuous IV sedation, and manage multi-system organ failure
• Implement isolation precautions and ensure proper PPE usage
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to different ICU and Med/Surg units as required to support hospital needs
