Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Associate of Science Degree required; Bachelor’s in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
• Recent graduate or two years RT experience in a tertiary hospital.
• Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Current Michigan Respiratory Therapist license; new graduates have 90 days to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Deliver life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gases therapy to critical care patients.
• Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and General Practice Units patients.
• Maintain clinical expertise across various clinical units within the department.
• Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other system employees regarding patient care needs.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and completely.
• Supervise, direct, and delegate tasks to respiratory staff, externs, and students as assigned.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program

Associate of Science Degree

Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy

Recent graduate or 2 years RT experience in a tertiary hospital

NBRC registration

Michigan license as Respiratory Therapist
