Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for ICU with day shift. You will provide professional nursing care, assess patient needs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires critical thinking, documentation accuracy, and willingness to float to other SIH nursing units within competency. Eligible candidates hold an Illinois RN license, CPR/BLS, ACLS within 6 months of hire, and nursing degree (ADN/BSN/MSN).

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license.
• Current CPR/BLS card.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• TNCC/TNS within 1 year or residency graduation (effective 6/2026).
• NRP and per-unit certifications as specified.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized care plan with the care team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote optimal health.
• Use clinical judgement and critical thinking to act on changes in patient condition.
• Document accurately in the patient record in a timely manner.
• Contribute to policy/procedure improvement for patient safety and quality of care.
• Supervise/licensed staff and delegate tasks as appropriate.
• Advocate for patients by collaborating with health professionals.
• Complete required education and licensure on schedule.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency.
