Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Intensive Care Unit. This full-time, dayshift role supports registered nurses and delivers direct patient care to our most critical patients, under supervision.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS within 90 days, and CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certifications. One year of healthcare experience is preferred; strong communication and compassion are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum requirements: Must have one of the following: CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, currently enrolled in a clinical program, or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a professional nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes and observe patient conditions.
• Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report changes to the nurse.
