Job summary

Uniontown Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient care on the unit under RN direction. You will perform hygiene, vital signs, feeding assistance, and mobility tasks, while documenting care and communicating patient information to the nursing staff.

Responsibilities include rounding, accessibility to patient needs, equipment cleaning, and proper isolation supply handling, with shifts that vary and a 36-hour work week in this setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Pennsylvania Nursing Assistant Certification preferred/required.
• One year of direct patient care experience or current enrollment in a health-related program.

Responsibilities

• Provides and assists with patient care including basic hygiene, comfort, support and safety measures, nutrition and elimination needs, simple treatments and procedures, vital signs, weights, glucose monitoring and mobility.
• Receives and communicates patient information accurately; reports to the nurse as needed.
• Orients patient to the unit and room upon admission and ongoing.
• Answers call lights and performs rounds to meet patient/family needs.
• Documents tasks according to unit policy.
• Cleans equipment, tags defects, notifies for repair.
• Assists in emergency situations (Code 68, Code Yellow).
• Transports patients and performs courier duties for the department.
• Restocks supplies for patient care (isolation supplies, linen, etc.).
• Monitors and records temperature logs; maintains neat unit and areas.
