Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a Resource Float Pool RN to support ICU service lines across three specialties. Ideal candidates care for critically ill patients and are comfortable floating between CVICU, SICU, and MICU while supporting other units as needed.

Responsibilities emphasize assessment, planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation within the hospital's Professional Practice Model. Ohio licensure, BLS, and ACLS within six months are required.

Qualifications

• RN license to practice in Ohio.
• BLS certification required prior to patient contact.
• ACLS within 6 months for ICU areas; certification in area of clinical specialty expected within five years.
• RN education paths include ADN or diploma with BSN deadline.

Responsibilities

• Understands signs and symptoms and data related to the patient's presenting needs and actual or potential nursing diagnosis.
• Recognizes and reports pertinent abnormal data and changes to physician and charge RN.
• Utilizes handoff methods to communicate data with the healthcare team.
• Assesses safety risks for patient, family, and environment and performs safety initiatives.
• Prepares and revises multidisciplinary plan of care with patient and family; sets measurable goals.
• Communicates plan of care using SBAR and handoff processes.
• Establishes priorities of care and discusses plan during shift report; participates in care conferences.
• Initiates discharge planning and makes referrals per anticipated length of stay.
• Delivers evidence-based, quality care per standards and hospital policy.
• Performs and delegates nursing actions per orders; demonstrates critical thinking and accountability.
• Provides ongoing education to patient and family with the team.
• Reviews physician orders; makes referrals and contacts other health team professionals.
• Responds to emergencies with precision and appropriate action.
• Implements infection control measures to prevent transmission of disease.
• Continuously evaluates nursing practice against standards and patient outcomes.
• Evaluates effectiveness of care and adjusts plan based on patient/family response.
• Maintains continuity of care through handoffs, rounding, and transfers.
• Documents plan of care accurately in the EMR; timely updates for patient/family response.
• Demonstrates leadership and development; motivates, educates, delegates, mentors.
• Maintains professional growth; participates in staff and council activities.
• Participates in professional advancement, certifications, organizations, and research activities.
