Job summary

Harborview Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Staff Pharmacist for the ICU/Emergency Department in Seattle. This part-time role (35 hours/week) supports the ICU/ED with drug therapy oversight, patient counseling, and collaboration with medical teams, nursing, and dieticians.

An advanced degree or residency or 2 years of clinically-oriented experience is desirable. State license and hospital experience are required; a pre-employment drug screen is part of employment.

Qualifications

• State of Washington Pharmacist License and one year of experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
• ASHP accredited residency training may substitute month-for-month for the required experience.
• Pre-employment drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate drug therapy and nutrition, including indication, dose, drug interactions and drug allergies.
• Evaluate pharmacotherapeutic regimens for effectiveness and adverse drug events, and intervene as needed.
• Communicate pharmacotherapeutic recommendations using medical records and documentation systems.
• Provide drug information and education to medical teams, nursing and dietician staff.
• Provide patient counseling and education.
• Facilitate efficient medication delivery and scheduling of medications.
• Develop and maintain procedures to improve medication distribution and administration efficiency.
