Job summary

Aurora Health Care is looking for a Patient Care Assistant to support RNs in daily patient care, including bathing, feeding, and mobility. You will document vital signs, assist with admissions and discharges, and help with specimen collection and routine tasks in a hospital setting.

Must demonstrate basic computer skills, clear communication, and strong organizational abilities. Roles include assisting with transfers, nutrition, and maintaining skin care and equipment per unit standards.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills for EMR documentation.
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong organization and prioritization skills.
• Annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, feeding, and ambulation.
• Record measurements and vital signs in EMR accurately.
• Perform rounding and relay observations to RN promptly.
• Support admission, transfer and discharge activities under RN supervision.
• Collect urine/stool/sputum specimens and assist with point-of-care testing as directed.
• Run errands, stock nursing areas, and clean equipment and work areas.
• Assist with positioning, transfers, and nutrition-related tasks under RN guidance.
• Maintain skin integrity and manage supplies such as TED hose and compression devices.
• Possibly remove IVs, post-mortem care, and bladder scans as directed.
• Follow infection prevention policies including hand hygiene and PPE use.
