Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide full ICT and AV support to staff, faculty, and students.
  • Prepare/breakdown tech for meetings before/after as needed.
  • Respond to tickets, phone, and walk-ins for troubleshooting.
  • Log and track support requests in ticketing system.
  • Set up and breakdown computer labs in buildings and residences.
  • Install and configure new devices, join AD and/or Azure Autopilot domains.
  • Install/configure desktop software as required.
  • Manage antivirus software and assist users with issues.
  • Provide training on AV equipment for events and classrooms.
  • Maintain inventory and arrange repairs or replacements.
  • Communicate scheduling and technology needs to staff and students.
  • Follow Staff Handbook rules and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:

ICT Systems Technician - Level I provides comprehensive technical support to faculty, staff, and students across various settings, includingoffices, classrooms, public areas, and residential halls. This role demands a solid understanding of computer technology and audio-visual systems, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. The technician will respond efficiently to support requests submitted through the institution’s ticketing system, by phone, and walk-ins, ensuring timely issue resolution. In addition to assisting staff and faculty, the technician supports students in residence halls and provides classroom and lab technology assistance during and outside scheduled class times. The job is located in Waterbury, CT.

Compensation: $45,000/annually; $21.64/hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • ProvidesupporttoStaffonallsupportedsoftwareplatforms.
  • Be available for computer and AV preparation/breakdown for staff, students, and faculty before, during, and after meetings as determined by the requester's needs.
  • Respond promptly to staff, faculty, and students for troubleshooting, hardware, software, password assistance, and general tech support as issues arise.
  • Respondtoandlogalltechsupportrequestsinourticketingsystemtotrackmaintenanceneedsandvolume.
  • Setupandbreakdowncomputerlabsintheacademicbuildings,offices,andresidencehalls.
  • Responsibleforinstallingandconfiguringnewdevices,addingthesedevicestoanActiveDirectoryDomain and/or Azure Autopilot.
  • Installandconfiguredesktopsoftwareasneeded.
  • ManageAntivirussoftwareandassistuserswithapplicationsandtroubleshootinghardware.
  • Providetechnicalassistanceand/ortrainingtostaff,faculty,orstudentsinusingtheaudio/visualequipmentfor events in the classrooms and public spaces.
  • Maintain,inventory,suggestrepair,storage,orreplacementofequipment.
  • Communicate with staff, faculty, and students regarding technology and scheduling needs and problems.
  • Follow all rules and regulations concerning staff conduct, appropriate dress, program procedures, and specific responsibilities established in the Staff Handbook.
  • Assumeotherresponsibilitiesasreasonablyrequestedbystaff, faculty,andstudents.
  • Performsrelatedworkasrequiredorasdelegatedbysupervisor(s).

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thispositionrequiresaflexibleschedulewithscheduledeveningandweekendhourstomeettheoperational needs of the ICT Office.
  • Ability to travel between our Campus and downtown Waterbury locations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education, experience, or training can be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
  • Preferred 1-2 years of successful work experience in an ICT department.
  • Experienceinaninstitutionofhighereducationispreferredbutnotrequired.
  • Abilitytoestablishandmaintainpositiveworkingrelationshipswithotheremployeesatalllevelsandwith diverse student populations.
