Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks an ICT Design Engineer to join a global engineering team driving the design of ICT pathways, spaces, and cabling in AWS data centers.

You will develop solutions for the physical layer and collaborate with architects, engineers, and managers company-wide to define product requirements and construction specifications. You will engage with suppliers to explore emerging technologies and help accelerate time to market while maintaining safety and security standards.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications require reading and editing construction documents
• Experience in engineering for mission critical facilities including data centers/power
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment
• Experience developing design documentation for construction and permitting
• Experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of scalable ICT fiber optic and copper plant designs and specifications
• Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals
• Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly
• Support new technology and design activities to improve quality, reduce cost and installation time
• Travel 10+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors
• Have fun and offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions
