Job summary

Rockford Park District invites applicants for a Learn to Skate Instructor position at the Ice Facilities. This seasonal role instructs participants in fundamentals of ice skating and hockey in a safe, friendly and professional manner.

Instructors may cover various tracks including beginner skating, beginner hockey, recreational skating, intermediate hockey, figure skating, and adult skate lessons. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, with payroll and HRIS responsibilities to track

Qualifications

Must be at least 14 years of age with worker’s permit.
Must be comfortable on and around the ice when in skates.
Must commit 10–20 hours per week; evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must enjoy working with children and adults.
Must have good communication skills to interact with participants and co-workers.
Ability to problem solve in various situations.

Responsibilities

Instructs participants on the fundamentals of ice skating and hockey in a safe, friendly and professional manner.
May teach any of: Beginning skating, Beginning hockey, Recreational skating, Intermediate hockey, Figure skating, Adult skate lessons.
Communicates with participants at all times, providing regular feedback on performance.
Tracks progress and completes participant report cards.
Maintains open communication with Skating & Hockey Programmer & Director regarding participant progress.
Assist with special events at the Ice Facilities; help at registration.
