Job summary

City of Holland Parks & Recreation is seeking an Ice Monitor for the Holland Ice Park to ensure a safe, welcoming environment during nights and weekends. You will monitor skating areas, assist with skate rentals, and support admissions and concessions while upholding park policies.

Ideal candidates have strong communication skills, the ability to skate confidently, and a dependable, team-oriented work ethic in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to skate confidently on the ice.
• Evening and weekend availability is required.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (training provided).
• Previous customer service experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and professional customer service to all patrons.
• Monitor the skating ribbon, pond, and curling area to ensure participant safety and enforce facility rules.
• Assist with skate rentals and returns, including sizing and fitting skates as needed.
• Support the admissions and concessions team as assigned.
• Respond calmly and effectively to customer questions, concerns, or incidents.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and securing the facility.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including skate rental areas, benches, and spectator spaces.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment issues to the Ice Park Manager or Supervisor.
• Promote a positive, family-friendly atmosphere in alignment with City of Holland Parks & Recreation values.
