Pineland Farms at Piscataquis County Ice Arena in Dover-Foxcroft, ME is seeking a Seasonal Ice Maintenance Worker to keep ice surfaces in top condition. You will help ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable rink experience for public skating and events.

Responsibilities include operating Zamboni-type resurfacing equipment, monitoring ice quality, edging, flooding, and routine maintenance. Ability to work evenings and weekends and a valid driver's license are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment to ensure smooth, safe ice conditions.

• Perform edging, shaving, and flooding to maintain ice.
• Inspect and maintain ice resurfacing machines and rink equipment daily.
• Assist with refrigeration plant monitoring and temperature checks as applicable.
• Keep rink areas clean and assist in setup/teardown for events.
• Ensure safety standards and facility policies are followed.

Job Title: Ice Maintenance Worker Seasonal

Department : Piscataquis County Ice Arena

Location: 1049 West Maine St. Dover-Foxcroft 04426

Reports To: Ice Rink Director

Status: Nonexempt- Hourly

Pay Range: $18.00-$22.00

SUMMARY

The Ice Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional rink experience by maintaining top-quality ice surfaces and ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and with the highest standards of cleanliness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment (e.g., Zamboni) to ensure smooth and safe ice conditions.
• Monitor ice thickness and quality, adjusting as necessary.
• Perform regular edging, shaving, and flooding to maintain proper ice conditions.
• Conduct daily inspections and routine maintenance of ice resurfacing machines, dasher boards, nets, and rink equipment.
• Assist with refrigeration plant monitoring (if applicable), including temperature checks and reporting issues.
• Perform snow removal and ensure rink areas are safe and accessible.
• Assist in setup and teardown for hockey games, figure skating events, and public skating sessions.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and facility policies.
• Provide support to facility management with additional maintenance tasks as needed.
• Keep rink area clean, including lobby, upstairs, rental areas, and locker rooms.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience operating ice resurfacing equipment preferred- Will provide training

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to ice quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Refrigeration plant knowledge is an asset.
• Valid drivers license required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving in standardized situations.
