Matanuska-Susitna Borough is seeking an on-call Ice Arena Attendant to support operations at the Brett Memorial Ice Rink and Big Lake Lions Rec Center. The role involves operating ice arena equipment, assisting customers, and helping with facility maintenance.

• Assists in cleaning and maintaining facilities.
• Sharpens skates.
• Opens and closes facility at start/end of day.
• Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
• Mails copies; sends and receives faxes.

Job description

This position performs customer service and maintenance duties in support of the operations of an ice arena.

Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

Anticipated schedule: On-call, Nights, Morning, Weekdays and Weekends. 20 hours per week.

This position may have work assigned at the Brett Memorial Ice Rink or the Big Lake Lions Rec Center.

D1 - DOE

High School diploma or equivalent.

Less than one year of experience. Relevant experience to include but not limited to Ice Arena experience, customer service, cash handling, basic computer skills, mechanical, janitorial, snow removal and heavy equipment experience.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.

• Operates a Zamboni and other equipment to maintain indoor and outdoor ice surfaces.
• Answers telephone and greets customers; collects payments and fees.
• Assists in cleaning and maintaining facilities.
