Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, SC, seeks a medical coder to assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT, ensuring accurate MS-DRG assignments in line with AHA guidelines and hospital policy.

You will thoroughly read clinical documentation, apply coding guidelines, and act as a coding resource for other departments, with opportunities for professional growth and certification support.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited coding program (4 year or 2 year required).
• One year of inpatient/outpatient coding experience in an acute care facility required.
• CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA credential required.
• Knowledge of PC applications including Windows and 3M Encoder. Must demonstrate coding proficiency by earning an acceptable score on a coding test.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly reads and interprets documentation in the medical record to identify all diagnoses and procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency with overall utilization of hospital encoder/grouper and its functions.
• Effectively utilizes AHA Coding Guidelines and other reference sources available within the department.
• Serves as coding resource for other departments/providers.

Education
