Job summary

AAPC is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist with strong billing, coding, and insurance workflow experience. You will process claims, code with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and work with EHR/EMR systems to ensure accurate reimbursement.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in medical billing, CPC or CCS certification, and excellent communication and organizational skills to support patients and payers in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate degree preferred.
• CPC or CCS certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in medical billing, coding, and EHR/EMR experience.

Responsibilities

• Process and submit medical claims to insurance and third-party payers.
• Code procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Generate cost estimates based on coverage and contracts.
• Verify billing data in EHR/EMR before submission.
• Use Epic, Meditech, PrognoCis for documentation and billing workflows.
• Research and resolve denied claims and billing discrepancies.
• Submit insurance appeals per payer guidelines.
• Explain billing questions to patients and arrange payments.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and up-to-date payer guidelines.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate coding.
• Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims.
