Job summary

Anne Arundel County Government is seeking a full-time Combination Inspector in the Office of Inspections and Permits to ensure residential construction meets building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes. The role involves reviewing plans, inspecting sites, and enforcing regulations with independent judgment under supervision.

Qualified applicants will have two years of inspection experience, ICC certification as a residential combination inspector, and a valid Class C license.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• Two or more years of construction inspection experience.
• International Code Council certification as a residential combination inspector.
• Valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Conducts final inspections and reviews plans for residential construction for code conformity.
• Uses call-in system to record data and maintains inspection records.
• Receives calls from citizens and contractors, answers questions, and resolves routine problems.
• Issues violation notices and stop-work orders; testifies in court when required.
• Advises contractors and the public on interpretation and application of codes.
