Job summary

CU*Answers seeks an IBM Power i System Administrator with AS/400/iSeries experience to oversee and maintain IBM iSeries systems for CU*Answers and managed clients. You will ensure high availability, perform replication, object audits, and DR exercises, while coordinating with internal teams and external clients.

The role requires independent judgment, strong problem-solving, and the ability to travel across the United States to client sites.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in business-related or information technology field or equivalent work experience.
• 2-3 years of IBM Power I Systems (iSeries; AS/400) experience including networks and PC-related systems.
• Experience with Windows, Ethernet, TCP/IP, SDLC/SNA, WAN, LAN, HMCs.
• Must be available during off hours to assist with problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel to client sites across the United States.
• Ability to work with external clients and internal staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Manager of IBM Power I Systems in providing technical support for applications and hardware on AS/400 platform.
• Help manage, configure, and maintain IBM Power I (iSeries) systems for CU*Answers and managed clients.
• Execute High Availability & Disaster Recovery processes and replication tasks.
• Perform hardware and software maintenance including firmware, microcode, updates, and PTFs.
• Install IBM Power I systems from bare metal with proper configuration.
• Maintain BRMS and virtual tape libraries for backup and recovery operations.
• Administer security, automation, and monitoring tools such as Firewall and Audit software.
• Ensure network connectivity and security with TCP/IP and certificate management.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues efficiently.
• Maintain detailed system documentation and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients with clear communication.
