Qualifications

• Excellent keyboarding and spelling skills.
• Basic computer and data processing skills.
• Experience with CAD is preferred.
• Remain calm in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives all 911 calls for Berkeley County.
• Refers non-emergency requests to the correct telephone number.
• Processes fire, medical, and police emergencies using CAD and provides rapid dispatch.
• Provides emergency pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions by phone.
• Records a daily log of 911 calls and uses CAD.
• Maintains records of fire, EMS, and law enforcement activity.
• Operates communications equipment and software including CAD, mapping, and TDD.
• Assists with compiling reports and statistics as required.
• Handles after-hour public works calls and notifies supervisors.
• Performs related work as required.
