Job summary

Bakelite in Conway, NC is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, process instrumentation, and automation in our industrial chemical manufacturing operations.

You will support safe, reliable plant operations by ensuring all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience as an I&E Technician in industrial manufacturing; chemical or continuous process experience preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, process instrumentation and calibration, PLC/DCS-based control systems.
• Ability to read P&IDs, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, and electrical drawings.
• Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control in industrial chemical manufacturing.
• Support safe, reliable plant operations and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and process safety requirements.
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant process controls (DCS/PLC/HMI) and perform routine I/O checks and testing.
• Document calibration and maintenance activities in the CMMS and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow safety policies, LOTO/Confined Space, and participate in audits and incident investigations.
