Job summary

Bakelite Synthetics in Conway, NC seeks an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control equipment in a chemical manufacturing setting.

You will support safe, reliable operations by ensuring all electrical and automation systems comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and by performing preventive and corrective maintenance. Overtime and on-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
• 1–2 years I&E technician experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, process instrumentation, and PLC/DCS control.
• Ability to read P&IDs, control narratives, and electrical drawings.
• Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment (motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs).
• Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instrumentation (pressure, temp, flow, level).
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant process control systems (DCS, PLCs, HMIs).
• Perform loop checks, functional testing, and documentation in CMMS.
• Support safety, compliance, audits, and reliability initiatives.
