The Instrumentations and Control (I&C) Systems Engineer at Naval Nuclear Laboratory will work on the design and support of I&C used to operate the Virginia Class submarine nuclear reactor plant.

This role involves becoming an expert in sensor technology, failure analysis, power electronics, and procedure development, collaborating with mechanical, nuclear, software, and electrical engineers to ensure safety-critical functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with 4+ years related experience, or higher degrees with fewer years
• Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems for nuclear reactor plants
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Define system-level requirements for design changes and modifications
• Troubleshoot instrumentation problems to support Virginia Class reactor plants
• Develop technical recommendations/reports for equipment or procedure improvements
• Data analysis to identify fleet issues
• Support innovation initiatives to improve I&C and minimize fleet maintenance burden
