Job summary

New England Controls Inc. is seeking an I&C Engineer to blend control panel/system design with field engineering.

You will support instrumentation, electrical systems, and control panel layouts across DCS & PLC platforms, collaborating with customers in dynamic industrial settings. Requirements include a Bachelor's in electrical engineering and 3+ years in a related field, with proficiency in CAD tools and industrial standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in related engineering field.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and process control theory.
• UL 508A design, NEC/UL/IEC/ISA standards familiarity.
• Sensor types: thermocouples, RTDs, pressure/flow sensors.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify instrumentation, control panels, and materials based on customer needs.
• Perform control system startups, loop checks, commissioning, and documentation/punch lists.
• Troubleshoot analog/discrete signals and protocols (HART, Fieldbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, AS-I, Ethernet I/P, ProfiNET, Modbus).
• Manage electrical installation vendors, review submittals, and execute pre-FAT/FAT for green or brownfield system installations.
• Perform PLC & DCS system physical layer troubleshooting.
• Support Front End Engineering and Design studies and sales proposals (estimates, walkdowns, scoping, BOM generation).
• Ensure uncompromising quality and safety; authority to halt work if compromised.
• Travel: 30-75% within New England; lift up to 50 lbs.
