Job summary

The Global Edge Consultants is seeking a proactive Instrumentation & Controls Engineer I to support midstream pipeline operations, facility maintenance, and capital projects at our Baton Rouge location.

You will bridge design and field execution, splitting time between office coordination and hands-on site support—evaluating contractor deliverables, troubleshooting field automation equipment, updating logic, and overseeing system enhancements across local pipeline assets.

Qualifications

2+ years of relevant engineering experience in industrial facilities, pipeline networks, or related operating environments.
Hands-on proficiency with PLC systems (Ladder Logic) and reading/marking P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and control narratives.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Controls Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on programming, valve and logic updates, troubleshooting, and commissioning on PLCs and HMIs.
Spend up to 50% of time in the field troubleshooting instrumentation, wiring, and field equipment; support operations and small projects.
Evaluate, review, and comment on engineering work products, drawings, and documentation to ensure alignment with specs and codes.
Identify deviations from specifications; maintain and steward the Deviation Control Log.
Serve as the technical point of contact for RFIs between operations, safety teams, project leads, and contractors.
