Leidos is seeking a Solid Propulsion Development Engineer to lead and oversee work on a hypersonics vehicle and propulsion programs, joining a diverse team that develops propulsion systems for spacecraft, missile systems, and other critical technologies in Huntsville, Alabama.

The role requires an ABET-accredited STEM degree, 4+ years of rocket propulsion experience (2 with a Master’s), ground testing, and the ability to write clear technical reports and present results to multi-disciplinary

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited STEM degree required.
  • Minimum 4 years of rocket propulsion development or test engineering experience; 2 years with a Master’s degree.
  • Experience with solid rocket motor components and propulsion systems.
  • Experience planning for ground testing, including thermal and environmental testing and static firing.
  • Ability to conduct trade studies and develop analysis/evaluation tools.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations for propulsion hardware.
  • Excellent technical reporting and presentation skills.
  • Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area.
  • Active Secret clearance; Top Secret clearance if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead technical engineer for design and development of propulsion hardware.
  • Design, build, and test prototype solid rocket motor components.
  • Negotiate design elements with propulsion system suppliers.
