Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Solid Propulsion Development Engineer to lead design, development and testing of solid propulsion hardware for hypersonics and related programs in Huntsville, Alabama. You will work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team interfacing with project teams and subcontractors to advance propulsion systems for space and defense applications.

The role requires technical leadership, trade studies, and the ability to write concise reports and present results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 10–12 years of rocket propulsion development or test experience.
• Experience with solid propulsion systems ground testing, thermal and environmental testing.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and write technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for design and development of propulsion hardware.
• Direct design, build, and test of prototype solid rocket motor components.
• Understand and negotiate design elements with propulsion system suppliers.
