Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Aerothermal Lead to join the Flight Systems Futures team in Roy, Utah. You will define aeroheating environments and drive CFD analyses for hypersonic programs, coordinating with TPS and structures teams to ensure design loads meet margins.

You should have a STEM degree with substantial aerothermal experience, strong CFD skills, and ability to lead trades and communicate results to senior stakeholders. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12+ years of experience, or Advanced degree with applicable years.
  • US Citizenship with Active DoD Secret clearance; Top Secret clearance possible.
  • 5+ years in aerothermodynamics, thermal analysis, or high-speed aerodynamics (hypersonics preferred).
  • Experience with CFD tools for high-speed flow (e.g., ANSYS Fluent/CFX, STAR-CCM+, US3D, CFD++).
  • Experience leading analyses and presenting to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop aeroheating and thermal environment definitions for system and subsystems.
  • Generate heating maps, thermal loads, and margins across flight envelope.
  • Plan and execute CFD and aerothermal analysis campaigns for configurations and flight regimes.
  • Lead technical trades using aerothermal results.
  • Assess impact of design changes on heating and margins.
  • Collaborate with TPS and structures teams to translate predictions into loads.
