Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Aerothermal Lead for a hypersonics program based in Roy, Utah. The role focuses on aeroheating, thermal environments, and rapid prototyping in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting.

Requires active DoD Secret clearance and US Citizenship. You will coordinate CFD campaigns, lead trade studies, and interface with TPS/structures teams while delivering robust thermal loads and margin assessments across the flight envelope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with significant engineering experience.
• US Citizenship required with active DoD Secret clearance.
• 5+ years in aerothermodynamics or high-speed aerodynamics.
• Experience with CFD tools for high-speed flow.
• Ability to lead analyses and document results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop aeroheating and thermal environment definitions for system and subsystems.
• Generate heating maps, thermal loads, and margins across flight envelope.
• Define worst-case conditions and design-to trajectories.
• Plan and execute CFD/aerothermal analysis campaigns.
• Lead technical trades using aerothermal results.
• Evaluate design changes for heating and thermal margins.
• Collaborate with TPS/structures teams to translate predictions into loads.
