Job summary

Mach Industries in Huntington Beach, CA seeks a Senior Aerospace Engineer, Aerothermal & Hypersonics to own high-speed aerodynamic and aerothermal design for hypersonic and atmospheric entry systems. This role requires 5–7+ years of experience and hands-on delivery from concept through design, analysis, test, and fielding.

You will lead vehicle shaping, predict heating, and contribute to TPS/heat-shield evaluation, collaborating with materials, structures, and thermal engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–7+ years of professional aerospace engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading a project from concept through implementation (design, analysis, test).
• Experience in hypersonic aerodynamic design and high-speed flight environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead or co-own aerodynamic and aerothermal design for hypersonic and atmospheric entry vehicles.
• Predict and analyze aerodynamic heating environments for vehicle and TPS design.
• Develop and evaluate TPS materials, architectures, and margins.
• Perform trajectory-informed aerothermal environment predictions and vehicle performance assessments.
• Collaborate with structures, propulsion, and systems engineering for trades and integration.
• Build and maintain engineering models, run trades, and document assumptions.
• Help establish ground aerothermal/TPS test approaches and plan flight-test validation.
