Job summary

Stratolaunch in Mojave, CA, seeks a level II or Sr-level Avionics Engineer to support design, integration, testing, and maintenance of hypersonic aircraft avionics with a focus on telemetry. You will work with system owners to define test requirements, prepare data systems for flight, select sensors and harnesses, and develop software tools for simulation and analysis.

Qualifications

• Experience in Telemetry, Instrumentation, or Network engineering in test environments.
• Experience with Ethernet networking (TCP/UDP, multicast).
• Experience integrating data acquisition instrumentation (ARINC 429, etc.).
• Knowledge of RF devices (transmitters/receivers/encoders/decoders).
• Experience with data acquisition systems and dataloggers.
• Experience writing system requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to instrumentation, network, and telemetry system requirements for local and extended range missions.
• Support flight operations by ensuring data system assets are ready for flight test.
• Select and design harnesses for sensors and data units.
• Manage and configure aircraft instrumentation for real-time and post-flight data.
• Develop and maintain software tools for configuration, simulation, deployment, and analysis.
• Document subsystem requirements for new configurations.
• Develop and support instrumentation, network, and telemetry tests as required.
• Support integration testing (power checks, sensor calibration, equipment checkout).
• Collaborate with design engineers, network engineers, and technicians.
• Present data system material at design reviews and flight readiness reviews.
