Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking a Level II or Sr-level Test Engineer to support the environmental test team in Mojave, CA. You will contribute to environmental and functional tests for Talon hypersonic vehicle programs, focusing on avionics components and test instrumentation.

The role includes test planning, execution, failure analysis, and validation of systems, with onsite and offsite testing, and travel as needed. A strong background in aerospace testing and DoD clearance readiness is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 2-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Experience with environmental component level tests and launch vehicle/aircraft electrical systems
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
• Knowledge of DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 or similar standards

Responsibilities

• Create environmental test plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy internal and external test requirements
• Participate in environmental tests onsite and offsite
• Support test execution via scheduling and travel to test houses
• Contribute to failure analysis and recovery plans for test failures
• Maintain and operate environmental test equipment such as vibration tables and thermal chambers
• Design new environmental test instrumentation systems and support operation
• Support operations of existing environmental test instrumentation systems
• Knowledge and understanding of environmental/test standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461
