Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a Lead Telecommunications Designer to join the Mission Critical / Data Center BTS team. You will direct telecommunications design and Revit documentation for hyperscale facilities, ensuring coordination with building systems, operations, and clients.

You will translate owner requirements into scalable, repeatable solutions, supervise junior designers, and guide design reviews while working within a structured owner environment to ensure quality and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible telecommunications or ICT design experience, including leadership of telecom design for hyperscale, cloud, colocation, or enterprise data centers.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience leading coordinated data center telecommunications design packages, including Revit drawings, Division 27 specifications, and construction-phase tech support.
• Ability to produce coordinated telecommunications construction documents in Revit, supervise junior designers, and manage production tasks.
• Strong knowledge of structured cabling, spaces, pathways, fiber/copper distribution, and equipment layouts.
• Experience applying data center telecommunications topology, redundancy, and deployment considerations across multiple projects.
• BICSI RCDD certification.
• Working knowledge of BICSI, TIA, NEC, IEEE, codes, AHJ requirements, and best practices.
• Excellent verbal/written/organization skills and ability to interface with owner engineering teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Design data center telecommunications infrastructure, including cabling, spaces, pathways, and layouts.
• Serve as Division 27 technical lead for project delivery from planning through turnover.
• Evaluate design options for capacity, redundancy, and maintainability; document with analyses.
• Interpret and apply client standards; coordinate changes across deliverables.
• Coordinate telecom interfaces with building, network, operations, and construction teams; lead design reviews.
• Develop coordinated Revit drawings and BIM narratives aligned with client requirements and codes.
