Job summary

GCON is seeking a Commissioning Manager for a major hyperscale data center project in West Texas. This 100% on-site role requires overseeing end-to-end commissioning from preconstruction strategy to L5 testing, coordinating across project teams, trade partners, clients, and third-party commissioning agents.

You will lead L1–L5 programs across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls and specialty systems, ensure QA and 2N/N+1 redundancy, and drive gate reviews with owners.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of commissioning experience on mission-critical or data center projects.
• Led L3 functional testing and L4 IST on hyperscale facilities.
• Experience with L5 facility acceptance testing under IT load.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Deep knowledge of MEP and critical infrastructure commissioning.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional alignment.
• Excellent client-facing communication and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full L1–L5 commissioning program across data center projects.
• Develop commissioning plans, schedules, and level-gate workflows.
• Define entry/exit criteria for each phase.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Oversee risk management and schedule recovery.
• Ensure QA, code compliance, and 2N/2N+1 reliability.
• Present status to owners and third-party agents.
• Collaborate with preconstruction on strategies.
• Drive standardization of level-gate docs and digital tools.
• Manage final L5 acceptance and turnover.
