Job summary

The DGS Office of External Affairs seeks a Hydrogeologist 2 to support Arizona's General Stream Adjudication Courts with field data collection, water resources analysis, and map production. The role involves historical research on water rights and landownership and may require expert witness testimony.

Hybrid work flexibility is available with on-site presence required as needed to advance complex cases and collaborate with adjudications staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrology, or related field plus two years of experience; or Master's degree in related field
• Knowledge of Arizona adjudication statutes, water rights law, and water resources management principles
• Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS mapping software and geo-spatial analysis
• Strong technical writing and ability to communicate complex water resource data to non-technical audiences
• Field investigation skills including GPS systems, flow meters, and water level monitoring equipment
• Valid Arizona driver's license required

The Hydrogeologist 2 provides technical support to Arizona's General Stream Adjudication Courts, including field data collection, water resource analysis, map production, and historical research on water rights and landownership. The role works closely with adjudications staff and may offer remote work flexibility (with minimum two days on-site per week) while supporting complex water management cases and serving as expert witness testimony.
