Job summary

STV, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic Hydraulics Engineering Intern to join our team in Raleigh, NC.

This hybrid internship offers hands-on experience alongside water resources and transportation professionals on infrastructure projects, with a preference for at least three months and full-time availability. You will support senior engineers on transportation and infrastructure projects focusing on hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management, gaining exposure to modeling software and design

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related discipline at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
• Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources engineering.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for projects under supervision.
• Support development of stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and memoranda.
• Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion/sediment control design tasks.
• Use modeling software (HEC-RAS, StormCAD or similar).
• Prepare drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
• Format reports, calculations, and specifications for documentation.
• Support project file management and document organization.
• Gain exposure to permitting processes (NPDES and local/state stormwater).
• Utilize department software to complete tasks.
• Gain experience through diverse assignments and collaboration with teams.
