Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydraulics Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside experienced water resources and transportation professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in Civil Engineering or a related ABET‑accredited program.
• Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources engineering.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects under supervision.
• Support development of stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and memoranda.
• Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion and sediment control design tasks.
• Utilize modeling software (HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or similar) for tasks.
• Prepare drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
• Format reports, calculations and specifications for project documentation.
• Support project file management and document organization.
• Gain exposure to permitting processes (NPDES and stormwater requirements).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across STV.
