Manufacturing Facility | Full-Time | Competitive Hourly Wage

About DSC

DSC Dredge is a world leader in portable cutter suction dredges engineering and manufacturing equipment for aggregate mining and sand & gravel production, environmental remediation, coastal restoration, navigational maintenance, and marine construction across the U.S. and in more than 50 countries worldwide. We operate from our headquarters in Reserve, Louisiana and our manufacturing facility in Poplarville, Mississippi.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Technician III (1st Class) to serve as the most senior hands-on hydraulics specialist in our manufacturing facility. Working under the direction of the Millwright Foreman, you will independently diagnose and resolve the most complex hydraulic system failures, lead the installation and repair of critical hydraulic components, and serve as a technical mentor to less experienced technicians as we build dredges and dredge components for customers worldwide.

What You Will Do
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex or intermittent hydraulic system failures using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques, performing root-cause analysis across interconnected systems
  • Monitor equipment and machinery to detect early signs of malfunction or wear
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Repair or replace defective components such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and hoses
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, design specifications, service manuals, flowcharts, schematics, and manufacturer instructions to repair, install, and test machinery
  • Install new hydraulic systems and components, and properly align and secure them to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to resolve complex issues and improve overall efficiency
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and training to junior technicians
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in hydraulic technology
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent industry-related experience
  • Minimum age of 18
  • 5 or more years of proven experience as a Hydraulic Technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing or marine/industrial environment preferred
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems
  • Experience with a variety of hydraulic systems and machinery
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Completion of a technical training program in hydraulics preferred
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing (drug screen and physical) and random drug and alcohol testing
Why DSC
  • Real, visible impact — the hydraulic systems you maintain and install power the dredges we ship to customers in more than 50 countries
  • One of only a handful of U.S. dredge manufacturers — giving you specialized, in-demand hydraulic systems experience you won't build at a typical manufacturing or industrial site
  • A business at record production levels — sustained demand means steady, reliable work and long-term job stability
  • Safety-first culture — well-maintained equipment, clear procedures, and a team that backs you up on the shop floor
  • Room to grow — your technical expertise makes you the go-to mentor for junior technicians, with room to grow further
  • A company small enough that your work is noticed and your contributions matter
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, vision insurance & short-term disability
  • Company-paid basic life insurance & long-term disability
  • 401k retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays

This is a physically active role that combines shop floor and manufacturing yard work. You will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in confined spaces such as pedestals, and be exposed to outdoor weather including wind, rain, lightning, and hot/cold temperatures with high heat, high humidity, and direct sunlight at times. Noise levels can be very loud during sandblasting, welding, and gouging, and hearing protection is required at times. You must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds, work at heights, and work extended hours and weekends when required. Required PPE includes a harness & lanyard, steel-toed boots, hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and sunscreen; during summer months, staying properly hydrated (e.g., 4oz of liquid every 15 minutes) is essential. It's hands-on, safety-critical work — and precision matters as much as strength.
