Job summary

DSC Dredge, LLC. is seeking an Electrical Engineer II or III for our Reserve, LA headquarters. The role requires strong NEC knowledge, power systems expertise, and the ability to interpret and create drawings, plans, and specifications.

Occasional travel to off-site locations is possible. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five years of relevant experience, with opportunity to contribute to a world-class dredge manufacturing team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
5+ years of electrical engineering experience in equipment selection and project management.

Responsibilities

Select and specify electrical equipment (MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, switchgear).
Evaluate equipment options for performance, cost, quality, and project needs.
Collaborate with clients, PMs and engineers to design electrical systems meeting specs.
Prepare equipment specs, data sheets, and purchase requisitions.
Review supplier proposals and drawings for compliance with standards.
Support FATs and assist during installation, commissioning, startup.
Conduct site visits and recommend improvements or replacements.
Perform load, short-circuit, voltage drop, and motor starting calculations.
Develop and review electrical drawings and schematics in AutoCAD.
Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians.

DSC is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer II or III with excellent knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code), constructions principles and power systems. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to interpret and create drawings plans and Specifications. This position may occasionally travel to off-site work locations.

Position Responsibilities

Select and specify electrical equipment, including motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, transformers, and switchgear.
Conduct thorough technical evaluations of equipment options, considering performance, cost, quality, and project requirements.
Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other engineers to understand project objectives and develop electrical system designs that meet technical specifications.
Prepare detailed equipment specifications, technical data sheets, and purchase requisitions for electrical equipment procurement.
Review supplier proposals, technical drawings, and documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Participate in equipment factory acceptance tests (FAT) and provide technical support during equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
Conduct site visits to evaluate existing electrical systems and provide recommendations for improvements or replacements.
Perform electrical calculations, such as load analysis, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and motor starting studies.
Develop and review electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD or similar software.
Stay updated on the latest industry trends, codes, and regulations related to electrical equipment and design practices.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
At least 5 years in electrical engineering, with a focus on equipment selection, specification, and project management.
