Job summary

Union College in Schenectady, NY seeks a Web Designer & Digital Strategist to own the college’s web presence, with end-to-end design, content strategy, and light front-end work in a Drupal environment.

This hybrid, exempt role reports to the VP for Communications and Marketing; you’ll collaborate across departments to tell the college story, maintain brand standards, and deliver accessible, responsive digital experiences.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of digital/web design experience.
• Portfolio demonstrating clean web layout design, strong typography, intuitive UX/UI, and responsive design.
• Experience with Drupal CMS.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Web & Visual Design: Conceptualize and design responsive layouts, landing pages, assets, and interfaces aligned with brand and admissions goals.
• Content Strategy & Digital Storytelling: Collaborate to plan, structure, and refine content for site navigation and messaging.
• Drupal Management & Light Front-End Work: Update layouts in Drupal and apply light CSS/HTML tweaks.
• Digital Brand Stewardship: Maintain and evolve digital visual standards across public channels.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Translate department goals into effective web solutions.
• All-Hands Pitching In: Support team initiatives and campus communications.
