Job summary

AvonRisk in California is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster II to independently manage a complex inventory of indemnity claims from intake through resolution. You will apply sound judgment, knowledge of applicable WC statutes, and a proactive approach to medical management, litigation, and recovery.

You’ll report to your unit Claims Supervisor and work across a diverse portfolio of self-insured client accounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years CA WC claims adjusting with Bachelor's degree.
• 5 years CA WC claims adjusting experience without Bachelor's degree.
• SIP designation preferred but not required; AvonRisk supports licensure.

Responsibilities

• Claims Investigation & Compensability: gather facts, assess compensability, and maintain plans of action on indemnity files.
• Medical Management: direct medical care, treatment authorization, and early return-to-work efforts.
• Reserving & Reporting: establish and monitor reserves; prepare 90-day carrier status reports.
• Litigation Management: direct defense counsel, set strategy, manage budgets, attend mediations and settlements.
• Settlements & Recovery: negotiate settlements and pursue subrogation and liens.
• Professionalism & Communication: timely responses and proactive communication with workers, employers, carriers, counsel, and vendors.
