Job summary

AvonRisk in California is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster II to independently manage indemnity claims from intake to resolution. You will apply sound judgment, act on medical management, and coordinate with case managers across a self-insured client portfolio.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of California Worker's Compensation claims adjusting experience with a Bachelor's degree, with demonstrated ability to independently manage indemnity claims through resolution.
• 5 years of California Worker's Compensation claims adjusting experience without a Bachelor's degree, with demonstrated ability to independently manage indemnity claims through resolution.
• SIP designation preferred but not required; AvonRisk supports employees in obtaining required adjuster licensure where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Claims Investigation & Compensability: Perform three-point contact within 24 hours on all new losses; gather and analyze case facts, assess compensability, and maintain action plans.
• Medical Management: Direct medical care through the claim lifecycle including treatment authorization, UR/IME direction, and return-to-work planning.
• Reserving & Reporting: Establish and adjust case reserves; prepare 90-day carrier status reports.
• Litigation Management: Direct defense counsel, set strategy, manage budgets, and drive settlements.
• Settlements & Recovery: Negotiate settlements; pursue subrogation and lien resolution.
• Professionalism & Communication: Respond to inquiries promptly; maintain proactive communication with workers, employers, carriers, counsel, and vendors.
