Qualifications

• 10+ years in data governance, data management, or risk oversight.
• Experience in second line governance or control functions.
• Experience establishing or overseeing enterprise data governance programs in large, complex organizations.
• Knowledge of DCAM, AI governance, data privacy and data management regulatory expectations.
• Ability to influence, advise, and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Insurance, financial services or regulated industry experience preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS/GCP cloud stack and Data Governance tools such as DataBricks, RedShift, Atlan, Anomalo.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight and challenge of enterprise data governance strategy and execution.
• Assess effectiveness of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across the enterprise.
• Lead independent assessments to evaluate governance frameworks, controls, and practices.
• Evaluate data quality, controls, and issue management to strengthen outcomes.
• Oversee data risk identification and reporting with insights for leadership.
• Guide alignment with regulatory expectations (privacy, retention, data use) balancing rigor with business needs.
• Partner with first line teams to shape strategy and improve governance maturity.
• Deliver actionable insights to senior management and governance committees on data governance effectiveness, risks and priorities.
